Whiritoa Lifeguard Service offer a range of lifesaving awards to its members when made available, if you are an active member and have all the prerequisite requirements these are maybe subsidised or free of charge.
To check what upcoming courses are available look at the SLSNZ calendar https://www.surflifesaving.org.nz/calendar
To check what first aid courses are coming up look at the pacific medicare website https://www.pacificmedicare.com/services/training-courses/surf-life-saving-first-aid-phec-courses/surf-lifesaving-course-dates-and-locations/
Usually, if we have enough people interested in a first aid course we will organise one in the Coromandel so make sure you let us know if your keen.
- IRB Crewman’s Award
- IRB Drivers Award
- First Aid level 1, 2 and Prehospital emergency care
- Introduction to Surf Coaching
- Instructors course IRB and Lifeguard
- VHF marine radio
- Patrol Captains course
- ATV driving course
Organising training and courses are all done voluntarily so we do not have the time to post and message lifeguards who could do the course. It is up to you to check and let us know when you want to do a course or gain an award.
The more expensive courses such as prehospital emergency care you will have to meet all the prerequisites for the course. Also for the surf club to fund the cost of the course, you have to have done 50 hours patrolling the previous season, IRB crewman, instructors course and be an active/involved member of our surf club.
